How do I get into the Linux Operating System, if I don't know the password?

The easiest one : reboot your system in single-user mode, cancel the root password, and reboot normally to set another one.
Route once; switch many

just to be redundant
at login hit the tab key
it should show linux
type linux 1
the system parses the number as the run level once your up change the password as normal and reboot again and login.

This only works if you didn't lock this feature out (which you would have had to do with explicit intent.)

Hope that is helpful

Thank You very much for replying to my question and providing me with a solution.
