Hellow everyone, lately I have been poundering on the subject of putting a Linux base O.S. (probably REDHAT) on an ibook. We have an ibook laying here at work that noone like to use, I figure i can do something with it.

Is this even possible?

Yes, definately.

Earlier you had to use a benh kernel, nowdays (after 2.6.5) the mainline is very ppc friendly, benh kernels are deprecated... nowdays the top topic about running linux on macs are G5s and macs with the newest ATI card, most of the problems solved.

I'd suggest in any case debian, im not too sure, but they may include the one or the other ppc related patch, regardless of any distro flame wars (go debian =p)

Any ppc masters are found on freenode/#debianppc anyway.

I always thought that YellowDog was the most compliant for macs?

YDL isnt too special afik, but im not updated. Its mostly redhat like, no plus.

Thankx for all your reply, I will give you an update once I locate a copy of Debian or YDL and load. Perhaps I will write a HOW-TO on this.
