I am a total newbie. I just setup a server and I am trying to figure out how to do things. So far I have the SFTP Services running but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get mail services running. I am using Dydns for my DNS so that was easy but SMTP and Pop services elude me. Is there any graphical frontend for this that can simplify the process? I have no programming skills whatsoever and thus need all the help I can get I will appreciate any help at all.

Peace

Fr. Bill Kessler

Check the post below/above for nandak7 - sendmail configuration that rouse01 and I have been working on. Read the posts, get yourself the bat book (3) from O'Reilly and read the mail RFC's. Once you have gotten your feet wet, post any error logs and we will try to help as best we can or as time permits.

You might want to secure it before you go too much further.

Just remeber the deault DaemonOptions will stop you unless you change it.

Onepair,
If you read the top post carefully it says "I am a total newbie". I very much doubt he can secure the system before he goes too much further. It is obvious that you are knowledgeable but you should also understand that not everyone here is. Teach by example not by directive, that is what this forum is here for.

Its easy to configure.I followed the book RED HAT LINUX 8 SERVER BY MOHAMMED J. KABIR,Published by WILEY.This book is so practical oriented for newbies. Also I got enormous support from this forum, especially from Rhinokiller and Rouse.

Thanks
