StarOffice 6 Beta:
I downloaded the entire *.bin file (118MB), now what do I do with it?
I tried ./[filename], but it gives me a permission error, even though I am root.
Help!

You must first make it executable. I think the command is chgmod filename.bin -x. Read the man page to verify. Mike Wills

Yep, that was it. It installed just fine. Except now, only the root user can use it! When I try to run the app binaries as a regular user, it pops up with a window stating something about a missing configuration file.
Do you know how to install it so anyone can use it?

I _THINK_ that you have to install it as a user also, but that is a huge unknown to me. Have you read through the documentation on both Sun's site and OpenOffice.org's site? That might give you a hint there. Mike Wills
