I am thinking of installing Mandrake on my compaq laptop. My ethernet card however is usb and I probably have generic video card. I was wondering if the newest version of mandrake would support this hardware

According my quick search here, Mandrake 8.1 supports the SMC 2203 USB/ETH device. I'd look up the above URL and do searches on any of the hardware you have to ensure that it is supported, either out of the box, or if there are any further tweaks required to get you going...

Have fun AV
