Hello,

Does anybody know of, heard of or possibly use a chat program on Linux? Are there any 'Trillian' like programs that can connect to several service like msn, yahoo, icq etc? Or is there no way to communicate with msn if you are on Linux?

Linux has an IRC client called BitchX.. this should work if u are trying to connect to a public IRC server...

as for MSN Messenger, Yahoo chat, ICQ and AOL Instant Messenger, check freshmeat... there some great utilities i have seen there..

good luck..

If you want to connect to multiple AOL, ICQ etc messenger services, check out Jabber. For particular messenger services, there are 'standard' clients - gaim, licq etc

Gaim and everybuddy are the 2 leading *nix IM standards. As far as IRC, BitchX is good, ScrollZ, epic and if you have X installed X-Chat and KVirc.

Thanks a lot people - gaim seems to be what I was looking for.
