Good Day,

I would like to get certified on Linux. Any suggestions about certifications in this area? In particular, ones that are geared towards the app team, to which I belong.

Regards,
Dan

Were you looking for a general Linux certification or a distribution such as Red Hat certification?

Unfortunately, I saw a generalized certification site this weekend, but I can't recall what it was, or else I would point you towards it.

A general Linux certification would probably be better but a Red Hat one should be fine as well.

Regards,
Dan

After a little bit of digging, I think it was LPI.org that I saw. I am sure there are a few. You will want to be sure to research them before committing to be sure their credentials are accepted.

Once your decide which one you would like to go with, would you please let us know which you chose an why?

For general Linux certification I think you're best served going with the LPI certs as they are vendor neutral. Later if you are interested in certifying in a particular distro you can go with RedHat, Novell (SuSE), Oracle, etc.
