Hello All,

I was wondering if any of you guys new if there is a big difference between the XK0-001 and the XK0-002. I am planning on taking the test tommorow morning and I have been studying practice exams for the XK0-001. I know that the test that i am taking tommorow is the XK0-002, so I was kind of worried that there may be a big difference in the questions. I have not been able to find much study material on the 002 so i figure it cant be that much of a difference. Please let me know.

Thanks to all for the help, and wish me luck!!!!

from what i heard, there are substantial revisions. i think there were supposed to be fewer hardware specific questions. you should look at the comptia site where they list the objectives for the test.

Biggest differences between the exams: New exam has less on hardware and more on networking and security. Basic CLI commands (they are listed on the objectives). little or no X. We tried to eliminate any vendor-specific references.

As I'm sure you are aware, hands on experience makes all the difference when it comes to Linux. With the amount of stated experience you have, I don't think you will have a problem.

I just took the test this morning......Failed with a 585. I had been studying the testking for the xk0-001. Definitely, its not the same as what i studied. As you mentioned, they have much on security, which i did not expect. It asked allot about user and group security but they asked me allot of questions on setting the security by using numbers, which i did not know how to do. Does anyone have or recommend any good test study material. I only have material on the xk0-001. Thanks...

testking. there's your problem.

I bet you mean setting file permissions using numbers.
Bummer. I would suggest you 86 the drainbumps, grab a copy of the objectives, get a good book (there's a bunch), and start working down the list. man pages are good. CompTIA sells a study guide for the new exam. LPI 1&2 materials work well. Sybex Linux+ Study Guide, 3rd Edition.(ISBN 078214389X)

Now you have the luxury of having seen the exam (or 1 version of it, there are 3). Use the objectives as a guide for your studies. Hit the books. good luck.

Yes, thats what i mean, setting the file permissions using the numbers. I went ahead and go the Sybex Linux+ Study Guide 3rd for the XK0-002, had been using the Syben Linux+ 2nd edition. I also went to real-tests.com and purchased the 468 q+a and the online test exams. I have been studying it since yesterday and i saw a bunch on the questions that i had missed. I should have definitely bought it before. Well, i am reviewing everything on the objectives and will try to take the exam again next saturday. I think i should be ready by then.

Thanks for the help.....
