I need to find the backup agent for Linux for Backup Exec 9 for Windows. The unix agent that comes with it has an option for Redhat, but when I go to install it, it says that "Cannot find the agent for the target (linux24)"

Do you have a license for the UNIX agent? All the agents usually come with the main product, but you need a separate license for each agent.

What is the actual name of the agent/option you have for UNIX?

Reason I'm asking is that I can't find an agent/option listed in Veritas' web site for Backup Exec 9.0 for Windows. I also have a bundle of all the available agents/options for 9.0 and don't have one for UNIX/LINUX.

The only UNIX/LINUX agent/option I can find is for BE 9.0 for NETWARE.

I think you are using LINUX 2.4 which is actually SCO LINUX 2.4. (SCO LINUX used to be CALDERA).

According to this:

It's supported, but it's different from RED HAT LINUX.

SO, I think you need a different option or there's something you need to 'unlock' the SCO LINUX option.

I went back and followed the instructions and I got it installed. the Windows server can see the Linux box under the Unix Agents. I cannot connect to it though. It says that the server refused the connection. I don't see anywhere on the Windows side that I can specify a password.

Does the login Backup Exec uses exist on the LINUX box you are trying to backup?
