Hi all,

This is my first post on this particular forum, so I'm not sure if I'll get my answer here.

I have a situation whereby the Linux system I'm running is running out of ARP cache/table space.

this particular system has a class B subnet.

How do I limit the amount of arp entries in cache? this particular server needs to have in the region of about 2000 to 5000 devices connected to it.

Where would the arp entries resides, as the device would also have to be able to 'talk' to these 2000 - 5000 devices.

Thanks,

There seem to be very few tuning options for ARP in Linux, however a couple of sites suggest using a user-space arpd instead of the kernel's built-in ARP capabilities:

However this information appears to be quite old.
