At my work, some machines have the following life cycle.
[ul]
[li]Initial purchase/installation/configuration as Production machine with MS Windows Server 20XX[/li]
[li]Hardware reaches end of service life[/li]
[li]Reimage HW as non-Production Lab/Dev/Sandbox Linux server[/li]
[/ul]
I have a couple machines that I'm trying to reimage with Linux 7 and I'm getting some very weird failures. Searching the Interwebs I'm not finding any solutions.
Specifically CentOS 7, I currently have an HP Elitebook & ZBook that I'm getting failures on microcode and RTM and a few other little things. The installer crashed and burns. I have a not too old DL380 that the installer won't even start up on (permanent disk light on CD/DVD drive).
In the past Linux has always been extremely easy to install. In my experience it installs on almost anything and everything. My experience goes back to Linux 0.99.12, so I'm no n00b.
I don't know if I'm looking for help or just venting, but if anyone has any insights on getting CentOS 7 to be an easier install, please let me know. I've looked all over the CentOS site and haven't found anything to get me any further.
