Hi all
i have a zoom adsl modem conected to a linksys wrv54g wireless router. I am trying to get vpn working but im not able too.
ive opened up port 8080 on the zoom and mapped it to the linksys for remote administration, to test and make sure that the port mapping is being done, which it is. No problem there.
I then mapped port 1723 to the linksys for the vpns,
but i does not seem to make any VPN conection to the linksys.

Im certain im not configuring the linksys propley and i need help.
I know that the ports have been mapped properly because like i said i mapped the remote managment port and that works fine.

on the linksys i have:
ipsec,pptp and l2tp enabled.

created a tunnel and named it acordingly.

on the local secure group i have: 192.168.1.1 (ip of the linksys)

on the remote secure group i have: 192.168.1.1 (ip of the linksys)

remote secure gateway i have doubts.... what should i have?
(one funy thing is that if i set it to any.. it doesnt seem to accept it. Am i right in saying that this is the ip of where the client is connecting?

encryption is des
authentication is md5

i have specified a shared key. and pfs is disabled.

I need clients to log on to our network through vpns.
Ive read a lot on the forums and there are difrent solutions but none relate to mine. IM certain that the problem is on the linksys, and i need some direction.

Thank you

What do you have on the other end of your VPN? Are there mobile clients (like salesmen w/ laptops) who need to log in from anywhere or is it remote offices with their own routers?
I think the WRV54G is more of an endpoint router and not a VPN "Server" router, but I could be wrong. I am using the WRV54G to establish a tunnel back to an RV082. But I think we will need more info about your remote VPN Clients.

we have mobile clients who need to access our network, some of them are using static public ips, but most of them are dynamic public ip addreses. so yes they will be connecting to us from difrent areas and points all over.
to be honest the fact that this might be a vpn router never crossed my mind, but then that will mean that only vpns between routers will be allowed and not vpn between clients, is that what you saying..

you may want to look at the above post. I hadn't heard this about the WRV54G until now.
