I have a Linksys BEFW11S4. When I connect my laptop using a Linksys wirless USB adapter everything works fine. However when I connect a CAT 5 cable from the back of the Linksys to my docking station I can't get an internet connection. When I look at the properties of the network connection it says it's trying to talk at 100mbps. I'm sure this is my problem but I don't know where to change this.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

The linksys supports either 10 or 100 mps connections, as does your docking station. This is an ethernet connection and not a wireless connection.

In the TCP/IP properties for your docking station ethernet adapter, set it to "Obtain an IP address autoamticly" and you should be done.

Do not have both the USB and docking station connected at the same time.

I do have the ethernet card to obtain the IP address automatically. The Linksys is assigning an IP but my internet connection is VERY slow. I also do not have the USB adapter and the ethernet connection in use at the same time.

set a fix nic speed . try also dr.tcp and set fix mtu value on computer of 1400 or 1500 .

dallley33,

Be sure your docking station ethernet adapter is set to "Auto", manually assigned a fixed Duplex or speed setting is likely a mistake.

If your adapters are Intel based, disable the default setting for adapter teaming.

keenz notes about checking the MTU are valuable. I recommend using the BroadbandReports site to do a Tweak test, and as kennz noted above use their freeware DrTcp utility to adjust your RWIN and MTU values:
If you could try the workstation at a different site, and/or replace the drop cable, it might help. Your problem really sounds like a hardware issue.
