Does somebody has the same problems with linksys wireless-g pci adapter?

I can connect to my wireless lan if i'm a administrator on my local w2k machine, but not if i'm a user. If i want to connect as a user then i first had to log off as an administrator and then log in as a user.

This is not very user-friendly.

The problem is that the Linksys client runs as a service, and limited users do not have by default the ability to create, start or stop Win2k services.

The solution is to use Scheduled Tasks. One schedule you have in this Win2k/XP program is to execute a program "at Startup."

Rather than use the Registry RUN keys to launch the Linksys client create a scheduled task to do so. You can then use the "Run as" feature of Scheduled Tasks to pass local Administrator credentials for username and password.

bcastner,

How about changing the setting of the service to administrators and users? Also is this problem in xp too?

You cannot modify permissions on the Service other than through a loading shell such as the recommended use of Scheduled Tasks.

In XP the Linksys client software is neither supported nor generally used. The native XP Wireless Zero Configuration service is used instead of the linksys software.
