Before I return these routers I figured I would ask the experts. I am looking to connect 2 lans together with these devices. Linksys tech support has verified the settings and I do get a connection BUT:
1. Can't ping the remote router from the remote or base sides of the VPN tunnel.
2. Lan clients have internet access though there local router and can ping local router.
3. Both routers are on the same isp, aprox 1.5 miles apart.

HELP!

Hi I recently setup the VPN using two VPN41. It seem to work fine. here is a few thing to double check on.

1. Does the router say connected in the VPN tab
2. One side has to have a static IP (although linksys say that you can have both side using dynamic, it is impossible to set it up even if you have a person on each site)
3. Make sure the ip work group are correctly input, if one side is 192.168.1.0, the other has to be different like 192.169.3.0

One more thing, if you can't ping computer you want to connected to, you will never be able to map. Once you can ping the remote computer you can access the share infor on that computer by going to start>run>type in \\ip address of the remote computer. This mean that if you have a server it's good for it to have a static ip. But I think if you have 2000 or XP it is smart enought to us the computer name.

i do have the connected message on both routers and while they do not have fixed ips they both have long term leases and i am able to administer the both remotely. Just can not get them to pass traffic (pings). can only ping local routers on both eather side. ??????
