So, i got one for ya!

On friday i noticed a few pages i visit were 'down'...i figured they'd be up soon....

after a couple days, i received an email saying i received a private msg, strange since the page is down....

at school i was able to load the page....

ok.

so i came home, tried again....got the this page cant be loaded error.

ok.

so i reset my router, still can't load.

ok.

take my cable line in, bypass the router, right into a pc, page loads.

ok.

so its the router.

check EVERY setting, as i haven't changed anything in six months....

can't find anything.

so i bite the bullet and call linksys.

get some foreign non english speaking person, but is knowledgable....

we try updating the firmware, resetting to default setting....everything.

can't load the page.

wtf?!?!?!

he says my router may have been fried by a power surge, but that doesn't make sense....why only two pages (found another page) not loading...when literally hundreds of others are...

nothing special about these two pages that wont load, as you can see...

neither will load for me, behind the router, but as i said, will load with a direct line in....

any suggestions or router experts?

i dont want to have to buy a new router, considering there really isn't anything wrong with this one.

Try changing the router's MTU setting to 1492. Also, if using IE as your browser, make sure that Tools, Internet Options, Connection tab, LAN Settings button, Automaticly dectect... is not selected.

I unselected "automatically detect", but when i set the MTU setting to 1492, it wont load up any webpages.

OK, so change it back. What about the IE option that I mentioned, did that have any effect?

i did...here's a link to a thread that follows my problem a lot closer...

a few techs on the page...

we have narrowed down the problem, but still are unable to solve it...

but it will at least give you an idea the steps we have already taken, and the task we are faced with.

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP,

STeve

Very strange indeed, because both sites (which happen to be hosted on the same server) do return pings. What happens when you visit ?

One more thing - I don't see anywhere in that thread that you checked, changed, or confirmed the 'Internet Options' setting that I mentioned above.

If (after checking the setting mentioned), you still have the same problem, try this:
1. connect your computer without the router & make sure both web sites work.
2. Start, Run, winipcfg - right down all the relavent settings for your network card, especially DNS server information.
3. Reconnect the router & access your networking TCP/IP properties. Manually set all the same info that you wrote down, except manually set the computer's IP address to 192.168.1.10 (assuming your router is still set at the default).
4. Reboot & try the sites again.

i'm sorry, right after you suggested to click off the automatically connect, i did...

so its been unclicked since you first suggested it...

i'll now do the rest of your suggestion.

does this look correct to start?

That looks like what you'd get when connected through the router, but I wouldn't expect the 'DNS server' to be listed as the router, but I don't have access to this right now to compare. What do you get when connected directly without the router?

i dont know what exact setting fixed it, BUT ITS FIXED!!!!!

either something was changed on the server within the last two or so minutes, or i 'think' disabling 'block internet requests' did it....even though i think it was a concoction of a bunch of things....

the MTU is still set to auto....

THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR SUGGESTIONS AND HELP
