I am having problems getting my Linksys router (BEFVP41, Firmware 1.40.3)configured properly to connect to my SBC DSL with static IP address. Niether Linksys or SBC tech support have helped. I have chosen Static IP in the router and entered my static IP address. SBC tells me to use 255.255.255.255 for subnet, router will not accept it giving me an "invalid mask" message. I have tried 255.255.0.0, and 255.255.255.0 with no luck. SBC also told me to use my IP address in the default gateway field in the router. Nothing has worked. Another possible problem - I am doing the configuration work on a different DSL line, other than the one with the static IP address. SBC says that shouldn't matter. The line that I am using to configure and test the router has a dynamic IP address. Thanks for any suggestions.
