I live in a house w/ 4 computers all running through a linksys router. All the computers are running xp pro or 2000 pro and I've set up all 4 computers and the router to run static ip's to try to solve a disconnection problem. It seems either the router over heats and starts randomly kicking people offline or something may not be configured right, however it generally seems to be my computer of the 4 that gets kicked offline the most while the others remain connected.... anyone else have this problem or know what I might be able to do to fix the problem?? thanks.

If it is just you, and not the three other computers, then it is just you.

But check to be sure:

. Can you see the other computers when this happens in Network Places?

. Can you ping the gateway of the router?

. Can you do a Start, Run, CMD

ipconfig /renew without an error?

try forcing the card speed to 100 megs full duplex and if you have still problems lower it down to 10 megs full duplex. that should solve your problem..

check also if the firewall of Xp is on.Also try updating your firmware to 1.44.2..
