Hello all-

I have a client who called with issues stemming from not being able to add a printer on a Netgear PS110 print server to three additional computers. The printer is currently installed on two win2k machines but I cannot get it installed on the remaining 3 win2k machines. All five are connected to a linksys router via a big switch. None of the cables are labeled, and they all disappear into a wall so I cannot follow them to their locations.

This is what I see as the problem:

The linksys segment with all five win2k boxes in a workgroup is 192.168.1.x but the print server's ip address is 192.168.0.100. They do not know the PS110 admin password so I cannot re-assign it a new address on the linksys segment (without resetting the PS110?). However, I am at a loss as to how two machines that were initially setup can print to it, especially when they are on the linksys segment. I have gone to the Netgear site for help, but thought that I might get a quality response here. She is becoming a bit difficult stating that there shouldn't be any issues, but if I can't get the remaining machines to see the PS110, how can I add the printer to them?

Any further questions or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks heaps!

Do you/they know the passwd for Linksys router? If the whole network is only 5 systems, one possibility is to change all systems to be on 192.168.0.x subnet.

Also, take a look at the routing tables of the 2 systems that can print - there may be a static route set up there.
(Type "route print" at the command prompt).

Last option - reset PS110 and reconfigure.

Good luck.

Also, look at the properties of the printer on the machines that can print to it. Look at the ports section, what does the port say?

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
