Hi,
I'm connecting to a Linksys RV082 via latest Linksys QuickVPN software. I'm running Win XP SP 2 (installed fresh off the CD with no updates) with the firewall turned off. I can connect to the remote machine via QuickVPN just fine, and I can log on to a shared folder and surf through the directory contents just like a mapped drive. However, when I try to download a large file, the VPN disconnects after around 10 minutes. I had ethereal running and it appears that ISAKMP is trying to reestablish the association from scratch (e.g. swapping initiator/responder cookies all the way through the quick mode exchange). It seems like this was successful, however I get a gateway not responding error and the VPN closes soon after.
I've looked at things like MTU (changed to smaller size) and MSS that I've seen in related links, however none of it seems to make a difference.
AND NOW THE REAL CRAZY PART...I then built a Win2000 disk, installed SP4 and QuickVPN, and this works just fine....no issues at all. Heck, even search works on the remote file server....something that seems broke in XP.
Any ideas why XP/QuickVPN would try to reestablish the association and/or why that seem to be killing the VPN? Thanks in advance
