Hello,

The Card works fine but here's the issue:

The Card does not activate during a cold boot/restart until after the first login for windows 2000 pro.

Thus the user logs in using a cached profile.

When the user logs off and logs back in the user is validated on the network.

The linksys utility is in the the starup folder, I tried to create a service using srvinstw.exe creates the service to launch the Linksys Utility... but fails I think it requires other parameters to start.

Anybody have this issue?

Thanks for your help

This is problem for all the Win2k drivers from Linksys. See thread below about the WMP11 card.

If you could do me a favor, I think I could write around the issue. Go to and download the free utility called rmon.exe. This utility will track and record registry changes made by programs.

Then uninstall the card.

Cold boot the machine and run rmon. Re-install the card. Then try to login. What I need to see is what registry keys are actived during the installation and login, and I am hoping rmon will catch them.

I got tired of trying to fix this issue and got a RMA on it... I Called Linksys they stated the card does not obtain a IP until AFTER the OS is started completely.... when it kicks off there program in the starup folder. This really sucks for people who need to login. I called Proxim there cards obtain a IP address during the the OS load... so when you get a login screen the card is active and ready for any IP services... card is only $20.00 more than the Linksys reather spend the extra $20.00 and not have to tweak 15+ laptops.

I have been able to create a service under Win2k for the card using Firedaemon, and using srvany. This avoids the problems you were having.

I want to test the service option with the WMP11 and will publish my results here.

I have the same problem with my Windows 98 SE laptop and WPC54G when trying to log on to a Windows NT 4.0 domain.

Initially I get the "no domain server available..." message, but if I click Logoff, then log on again my login script runs fine.

Would be most interested in a solution to this.
