Trying to set up Linksys Router (WRV54G) to Westell dsl router modem on BellSouth DSL. Have attempted all I know at this point and can't get it working. Linksys tells me it can't obtain the IP and wants me to put my modem into Bridged mode. When I did this I was unable to get to the internet with the either device. I have the right log on name and passwords in the linksys.

1)If the modem does not work in the briddged mode what do I do
2) Can i get it to work without briddged mode if so how do I set up the Linksys. The support was not helping much and bellsouth won't help as well.

If anyone can help plae let me know & Thank You

OK, what is the Linksys going to do for you that the Westell doesn't? If you just want the Linksys to provide Wireless, you can defeat all its routing and use it as a Wireless Access Point.

1) renumber it to a IP number in the Westell's subnet but outside it's DHCP range: 192.168.1.253 is fine, if the Westell is 192.168.1.254

2) turn off the DHCP server in the Linksys

3) connect the Westell and the Linksys via the LAN ports, nothing should be in the Linksys's WAN port.

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.
