My mother and I share an internet connection (comcast) and are using a WRTG45s wireless router, we are BOTH hard-lined in. The router is currently set to DHCP automatic configuration.
My problem is this, often (every minute or so) I, and only I stop receiving information from the network, in doing so it creates a lag spike in my internet game. The game's information feed freezes(I can move freely, but nothing is happening in the game itself).
This was originally caused (we believe) by conflicting IP addresses, I right clicked my LAN connection in Network Connections and changed her IP address and everything was just fine. It has started happening to me, and only me now. I tried to change my IP address, only to have internet pages get stuck at "Looking up *.com" for a minute before it continues on to load the pages almost instantaneously.
Even if I have my IP autmatically being configured, If I change my DNS to a specific address, say 192.168.1.1 the sites get stuck at "looking up *.com" before continuing.
No matter what I change, I cant get rid of these horrific lag spikes, please help.
