I am running win xp pro on my main pc.I have a linksys befwsii4 connected directly(wired)to this pc.Downstairs I have a celeron 300 running millenium with a linksys wmp11 wireless card.
I am getting a excellent 80% signal, but no internet. It worked Wednesday, the day i got all this hooked up.I did move this to another room and since then, nothing.I do not think moving it had anything to do with it,but no internet to speak of since the move, still 80% strength.
I changed os's on the basement pc today...it was a last ditch attempt.Linkysys help line did nothing,so I tried that.
any other suggestions?
I did re-install the driver by the way..
Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem one time. I had the exact same configuration. The signal strength was ok, but for some reason I could not get an IP address from the Linksys Router. In order to fix this I did three things.

1. Reset the Router using the Reset button on the router itself.
2. Reset the Router to default settings from the web based configuration.
3. Reconfigured the SSID on both the router and the the WMP11 card. (Used a different SSID than the Default SSID: Linksys)**There were 2 other wireless networks in the area that used Broadcast SSID's with WEP.

I'm not exactly sure what fixed the problem. But more than likely I'm guessing by just reseting the problem probably would have been fixed.

Try these steps and let me know if they work for you.

I spent an hour with the tech from Linksys the other night.I got nowhere.I ended the call out of frustration, not to mention it was hard to make him out.
I called the next morning and got a lady this time(sounded young)and she continued with that case file.In 5 minutes I was online once again, and yes,it was a matter of resetting the ssid or something like that.I remember entering my name in the ssid block and editing that or something.
Anyway, the good news all is fine.

Hard to believe when you call for support you are calling India.I even asked him"where are you guys located"?...he replied India..

thank God it is toll free...

thx for everything..
