Hi,
I have a problem with the configration of Linksys E2000.

We have a T1 internet cable and I am trying to connect with this router to set up a wireless network.

The problem is when I set up the Internet connect type on the web-configuration page as Automatic configuration - DHCP, I get limited access, no internet access.

ip address : 192.168.1.100
subnet : 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1

DHCP SERVER : 192.168.1.1

So I try to set up it to static ip, after that I can connect to internet. But after other people join the wireless network,
everyone can not access internet.

I am trying to use DHCP, so anybody has any idea what is the problem is ?

Thank you!

The E2000 does not support a DS1 connection. It only has Ethernet jacks, so the WAN side can only connect to an access router, cable box, or DSL box that has an Ethernet jack. As fas as the wireless configuration is concerned, did you read the user guide?

Hi,
I am sorry I did not make it clearly. what I mean is connect this E2000 to the cable box (samsung ibg1000) to set up the wireless network.

Is your ISP providing a static IP address? If not, then you will need to leave the WAN at default or use the CD supplied software to do the configuration.

First question - The E2000 is a consumer-class router and T1 sounds like you may be connecting it to a business network. Is this wireless authorized, or is it a rogue? If your IT department doesn't know about this router, get them involved BEFORE you do it.

Next - did you re-boot the Samsung when you plugged in the E2000? If your ISP provides only one IP address, there may be limitations that require a reboot if the MAC address connected to the Samsung changes. A workaround is to clone the MAC of the system originally connected to the Samsung.

Check your WAN-side configuration. Is the E2000 configured properly to connect to the Samsung? If the reboot didn't work, DHCP may not be the correct connection. Check the requirements with your ISP. Are the Samsung's NAT/firewall and DHCP enabled, and if so what addresses is it issuing, and how many clients are allowed?

Is the 192.168.1.100 the E2000's wireless LAN DHCP or is it the WAN address? Maybe you need to run a wireless access point instead of a router. If the Samsung is handling the NAT and DHCP functions, it's probably unnecessary to duplicate them with the E2000, and you should be using an Access Point instead of a router.

OTOH, if you do need a router, make sure that the addresses issued by the router on the Wireless LAN side are not in the same subnet as the addresses issued by the Samsung on the WAN side. The easiest fix for that is to change the LAN address of the E2000 to 192.168.x.1 and make "x" something between 20 and 200, assuming you're using the standard Class C (255.255.255.0) subnet mask.
