Current setup:
Win2000 Advanced server (domain controller)
10/100 Eth. network
Linksys Cable/DSL router

I want to use my Win2000 server to issue IP addressing (DHCP), rather than the router. I disable DHCP on the router, and enable DHCP on my server. I exclude the router's internal/LAN IP address from my Server's DHCP scope, and set the router's internal IP address as the default gateway on the server. I set my server's IP address as the DNS server address. All nodes on the network, including the router, are on the same subnet (correct IP scope, correct subnet mask, etc)
Why can't I connect to the internet? I've tried so many iterations, that I don't even remember where I am, or where I came from. All I should need to connect to the internet, is the defualt gateway, right? Do I need the DNS server list from my internet provider?

Any hints or suggestions here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

1st question...did you setup the dns server correctly on your server? If you can ping an outside address and not a domain name then you have a DNS issue. Substitute the DNS server numbers in your DHCP scope and I am sure you will work. Make sure the IP of the server and router or not in the DHCP scope.
