I have a linksys BEFW11S4 router and am curious about leaving my router open for my neighbors to use for internet access, but would like to still implement MAC Filtering...

I'm wondering if there is a way to broadcast my SSID but when users connect (somehow) display a message to them that the can contact me and give me their mac address then I can allow them to use the internet access point.

Is there a way to do something like this from my router - or if not that router, any other router?

Is that the B or G router? If you run WEP with SSID broadcast XP will usually prompt for the WEP key to authenticate. I'm not sure if you can put in a message that says contact you for the WEP key but it may well be a registry hack.

This is just an idea to point you in the right direction.
