LinkSys BEFVP41 drops traffic when activating VPN

I have an Actiontec DSL performing NAT and IpSec passthrough is enabled. It is connected to the WAN port of my LinkSys BEFVP41. My users are able to connect to the internet and all internal resources through the Linksys.
When I attempt to activate a VPN tunnel on the Linksys, all client computers loose Internet connectivity. Once I remove the settings for the VPN tunnel the Internet connectivity will come back. I haven't done a VPN setup before and really could use some assistance.

Sounds like split-tunnel has to be configured.
This is a security consideration;opening up the core network
to outside sources on those pc's.

That is what I suspected...Can this be done with a Linksys?
