I'm architecting a VPN solution for one of my clients. I am configuring the BEFVP41 Router at each of two remote locations and one at the central site. I plan to configure the routers to establish a secure VPN tunnel to the central site from each remote location. At the same time I am trying to determine the best VPN Client Software for remote users that are not currently using Windows 2000/XP. Linksys pre-sales support will not identify a VPN Client that will work with their products. Will someone please tell me if they have success with a particular VPN Client?

Do you need to have more than one NIC to setup a VPN on a Windows 2000 server?

Hi as400guru,

Try SSH, it works with BEFVP41 under all circumstances. You can request the interoperability document from their technical support.

I have followed some directions from homenethelp.com to setup SSH with my BEFVP41. The problem I'm having is that I get an error saying that it "Cannot open the VPN Connection. Check that the gateway is online and verify that you are using the correct authentication key." The authentication key is correct.
I guess my question is, what exactly do I need my ISP to do in order for it to allow me through. While experimenting with the W2K Pro connection wizard, I had my ISP open port 1723.

The interoperability guide in homenethelp.com is not quite correct. Pls request one from SSH
