I currently have a 48 port SLM248G linksys switch on a business network. Everything runs fine on the network EXCEPT a dell webserver (static IP) running linux. There appears to be a 4-5 second time lag when connecting via a browser. I know the switch is the issue because when I replace it with an unmanaged switch it works fine. I have also tried different settings on the switch and nothing..Any ideas here and does anybody have any suggestions. Marc

Have you checked to see if there's a mismatch in speed/duplex settings? Have you tested the cable you are using or tried a different one?

Do you see this problem when using the Web server on another switch? You could always try changing its NIC.

Hope this helps..

Can you ping to google and see what sort of times you get? Can you post a config of the switch?

BTW, this is a Cisco switch forum...

Makes sure the ports on the switch are not hardcoded to a specific speed and duplex , leave them at auto .

Oh, and this is a Cisco switch forum...:)
