If i'm creating a site with a flash intro and want to put a button linking to the macromedia website to allow users to download the latest flash player, do I need permission from Marcomedia?

I'm not a lawyer, but would not think so. Just like providing users that do not have Acrobat with the link to download. Same logic I would think.

Hi mate,

I don't really use flash but the movie should prompt for download if a newer version is required. If you look at the source of the code, it will have the plugin URL in it.

But to answer your question, no you do not need permission to link to a download of that type, but link to the page with the download, do not link directly to the file as certain companies may not be too happy with that.

Hope this helps

Wullie
