I have designed a movie file made of three buttons although when I try and link a button to a new frame in the animation, I can only link to the frames within the movie clip. Is there any way I can either close the movie clip then link to a frame or somehow link to the whole animation, not just within that clip?

hi

All you have to do is utilise the "tell Target" statement:

_level0/xxx targets the movie clip instance "xxx" which resides in the main timeline from any movie-clip

_level0 targets the main timeline

i.e. Begin Tell Target ("_level0")
Go to and Stop (8)
End Tell Target

....makes the movie go to frame 8 on the main timeline.

There's various combinations of these, basically you can target anything you like within a movie clip, even other swf's.

Hope it helps
