I have one computer that will give a Microsoft Error message when trying to open certain links from webpages or emails. Other links works just fine. Just happened in the last week.

Error Signature:
AppName = iexplorer.exe
AppVer = 6.0.29.00.2180
ModName = msvcr71.dll (Tried to replaced)
ModVer = 7.10.3052.4
Offset = 000017fb

Thanks for any suggestions

Certain links break. Is there any pattern to the links that break? Any pattern to the pages these links were on? The domains? The hosts? The senders of the emails? How about a bit more information here?

CNeeds,

I once ran into a computer that would not open Internet Explorer because of a corrupted favorites file. Have you tried:

A) Cleaning out the Temporary Internet Files
B) Cleaning out the temp folder(s)
c) Cleaning out the history
D) Manualy moving the favorites out of the favorite folder to see if one of those files is causing a problem
E) Running scan disk

More than likely it is a bad temporary file for the web pages the person is trying to go to; but I could be wrong.

Don't drink and post, save that for driving home!

The error indicates a corrupted or incompatible msvcr71.dll file. msvcr71.dll is a C language library of common routines. It's part of Windows, not limited to just IE.

I would make sure your Windows and IE have all the current updates - use Windows Update to get them all at once. If it still happens, install the latest MDAC (MS data access components library) from
I'm pretty sure that would get you a fresh version of the .dll file.

Good luck!
