Linking Variables in sub report to main report

I just taught myself how to use a "shared variable" to use information between sub reports and main reports--BUT when I try and simply display the variable in the main report it is not linking correctly to the main report (I am getting the right number, but it is no staying w/ in the group that the sub report is linked w/.) The correct number is showing up one group down from the correct subreport.

Any ideas???
