Could a PPP connection be established via the internet between remote LANS

I have two remote LANS both connected to the internet. The regular frame-relay connection is down. I was thinking maybe I could link the remote LANS via a PPP connections over the internet. My experience has been limited to PPP via a dial up modem. Is this concept possible ?

I just need a temporary solution to connect the remote LAN to my central office via a network routable connection via the internet. Security is not a main concern at the moment, connectivity is.

I would think so yes - you would just have to turn off your security stuff at each end, scary though.. *Quite* insecure. Mike

As scary as it sounds it might be my only option. I am looking at a short term frame-relay outage. I was just thinking I could get more bandwidth out of my DSL Internet connection rather than a 56k modem.

I could get by with a 128k connection.
What about load balancing over two 56K modems.

I know that some ISP'S support "bonding" via two modem connection to the ISP's NOC.

What about using this concept between my two offices.
Two modems in each facility. Maybe thats a stretch.

Bonding -- never heard of it to be honest. What's your ISP like? Could you give them a call and see what they think?

What about setting up one server as a PPP server and connecting to it, directly - not over the Internet, using the modems? Mike

Mike,

I think I have also heard this concept refered to as muti-plexing.

The PPP server using modems is probably the best Idea.
