I need to link a Visual FoxPro database to a SQL 2000 database. I'm running SCR 8.5 on win2k. I set up a DSN to the SQL Server database and a DSN to the Visual FoxPro Tables I need. I'm trying to link a 50 character string from the SQL ODBC to the same field type in the VFP ODBC. I keep getting a message saying that the link might not work properly due to different types, and won't allow me to choose a left outer join, all the options are greyed out. When I run the report on Crystal Enterprise, it dies about 30 minutes into it. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Multiple datasources have poor performance.

I would approach this a different way if possible, set up a DTS job to pull in the Fox table (at some scheduled time?), and then report against the SQL Server tables.

I suppose you could do the reverse too, import the SQL Server table into Fox.

Or...you may be able to create an SP in SQL Server to run a DTS package (pulling the Fox data), and then do the database work (joins, calcs, etc.) within the SP and return proper data for the report.

It's a thought...

I appreciate the help. I did have to create a DTS and it works great. Thanks a lot!
