I'm trying to link to an exe file from the web on a windows server. We can link to the same file perfectly fine on a unix based machine, but get a 404 when linking locally on the Windows server. Any suggestions?

Are you using Internet Information Server? I assume you are. The HTTP 404 error you refer to usually means it can't find the file in question.

Is your web server running correctly? Can you open a standard html page? Is your link pointing to the correct location of the exe file? Have you set up the correct permissions on the file/directory so that it can run the executable file?

Use IIS Manager to help you.

Regards,
