I have had requests to make the application network capable. So I do need to find a way to link the tables to a common data file directory. I have tried to use the code at

which would run via an autoexec macro, but I can not get it to run properly. In addition I have reservations about using a macro in an mde file.

Hi

You can link the FE to the Backend using File\get external data\link, or using the linked table manager (under add ins in Access 97, or Tools \ database utilities in A2K.

The code approach is usually used to check for broken links at load time and to relink only if necessary.

While I have not used the code you indicate, a supercicial view suggests that it follows a familiar pattern.

You do not have to invoke it via a autoexec macro, you could use a start up form, and put the code (or a call to it) in the onload event of the form.

Hope this helps Regards

My application is distributed in runtime version to users who do not have Access. I therefore need a method which can work in runtime.

Number2,

Do some homework, then. There's no reason a run-time should get in the way of either of these methods, is there?
