How will I link two text fields in two tables ? When I link the table in VIsual Linking Expert, there is a message "File Link Warning. The specified fields may not link successfully due to different types". What should I do ?

You can link them anyway. But the warning means that the definition of the fields are different. You'll get this if you try to link a date and a string field, or a number to a date field. Basically, any two fields which have different datatypes.

I agree with Naith, it is a warning message, not an error message. The next step is to just run the report and see what results you get and make sure they are the expected results. Software Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

But now the report is not showing any values. (I am using an equal join). I was able to create reports with the same warning message showing up. But this time it dosent print any records at all !!!
Should I use something lile {field1_name}={field2_name} ? Both are text fields.

Are you linking in any other way besides this field? Software Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine

I am using several tables. It works fine. The problem is when I add another table to find out user information. To do this I am linking to a log table. WHen I link a field from the existing tables to corresponding table in the log table, it fails
