I'm new to Crystal 8.5. I want to join two tables with fields from both tables, but also if there is a record from table a that doesn't have a matching record from table b, i want the fields from table a to print with spaces for the fields from table b. When i run the report after linking the tables (a to b) it only shows records where table a has an associated record on table b

Select Database->Visual Linking Expert->Right click the join and select Link Options->Left Outer.

I am trying to add two new tables to a report. When I link one of the tables to an old table, the new table does not show up. It is not in the sql, and if I request an input parameter equal to one of its fields, I get an error message saying that the column_prefix does not match with a table specified in the From clause.

If I try to link the other table to the other new table, I get an odbc error saying item 11 has already been read.

I have successfully added these tables in 4 other reports. The only difference in this report is that it includes the table containing gl transactions, rather than the table containing the gl summary records, and there are a few additional selection criteria.

Does anyone have any ideas about what might be going on?

Thanks very much.

Sue
