In access you can link tables between databases....is there any way to link an access table to a mySQL database??

If you mean to use Access as a GUI to MySQL then yes.

Install MyODBC 3.5
you can get it here

Create a new DSN using the newly installed MySQL ODBC Driver

Open an empty Access database and create linked tables using you DSN.

i realize you can link a mySQL table into access but i want to link an access table into mySQL, so that when the access table is updated the mySQL table also reflects those changes.

You can write a Access Macro that exports it into MySQL through an ODBC driver. I doubt that you can link tables the way you want to do it.
It works between Access databases but Mysql is a database server as Access is just a front end with basic db storage functionality; storing master tables on access having MySQL depending on it would be the wrong way of doing it.
Perhaps you should drop Access and develop everything in MySQL.
