I was wondering if someone knew the answer to this one.

I have a database that I have linked two tables to from another database. I cannot make any changes to these two tables in their original database.

I want to use these to pull members from when they make a payment. Things are working great, however....

If I get a payment from someone who is NOT presently a member I need to be able to type their name is the new table in the new database without making any changes to the original table in the old database.

Does anyone know if this is possible and how I might accomplish this.

Thanks in advance for your help.

cheyenne2002,

You mean add a record to a table which is linked from another MSAccess?

Of course you don't mention what type of control you use for typing in the new member. Pls provide more info.

You are right, I guess I only told half the story, sorry.

I linked the first table from the database that I cannot change. I then created a second table and used a lookup field in this table to pick the members from the first table. I did this so that we would not have to type out the names of the members. The problem is that sometimes we get checks from people who are not members and I want them in the second table, but not added to the first table(linked).

The second table is where I keep track of who mailed us checks. This information does not have anything to do with the first database.

The table I want to add to is just a record of who mailed us checks, as I mentioned it might be an existing member (in this case I would like to use the combo box drop down list to find the member) or it might be someone who is not a member and will never be one.

This is my problem.
Thank you.
Sharon

Why not add this no-member some1 to the same table of members and add an extra column of Yes/No data type to destinguish them member and non-member?

Or a third table to hold non-members and an union query to join members and no members?
