Linking tables using RDS or ODBC

I have an Access database stored on a web server. That Access database has information fed into it from forms on the web site. What I would like to do is be able to have a local Access database and be able to link tables from the web server based DB into my local DB. The hosting provider does provide the ability to set up ODBC DSN's on the web server along with allowing those DNS's to be accessed using RDS.

When trying to link a table in Access I cannot find a way to link from that remote database. Is this even possible? I've had great luck linking to SQL servers over the Internet but this my first try at linking Access over the net. Also, I'd jump at the chance to just upgrade the remote end to SQL, however, the hosting provider charges $50/month for SQL server access. What I'm really looking for is a quick, dirty, and simple way to grab data directly into my local database from the web server.

Thanks,

Access does not allow table linking using HTTP or FTP connections. See the following article for more info.

So far as I know, the only way to link tables is to be able login to the domain where the back-end databases reside. Once you've logged into the domain, you can link using the UNC. You should be able to use the IP addrtess as the server name in the UNC. Terry L. Broadbent
