Hi,

Access 2000
I have 2 databases with largely unrelated info and therefore each database uses a different workgroup file. I need to link one table, but I can't because that workgroup doesn't have permissions for that table.

I usually use "/wrkgrp c:\secured.mdw" on a shortcut to connect to different workgroups. Can this be used in any import / link statements?

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Gary

Let's hope you only need Read-only views. Create a new query using Owner's permissions, and see if you can link to it...

In a secure workgroup, you can assign others permission to view the data returned by a query. By setting the RunPermissions property of a query to Owner's, all users have the query owner's permission to view the query, only the query owner can save changes to the query, and only the query owner can change the ownership of the query.

Thanks Shaun for your answer.

I do only need read permissions from the second DB. I have tried the RunPermissions option but I still cannot get access from the second db/workgroup. First of all I cannot link to a query I can only import and import doesn't work as I still don't have permissions?!

I am the owner of both db's but they are on different workgroups.

If I am doing something wrong please could you explain in greater detail.

Thanks,

Gary
