Linking SSRS 2005 report data to powerpoint

I am looking to have a series of PowerPoint slides that contain graphs with data linked to exported data from SSRS 2005. I was planning on exporting the report into excel, then running a macro to update the embedded data in the PowerPoint slides. Has anyone tried this before and is there a more efficient way to accomplish this?

If you want the data in excel, why not simply query directly into excel rather than using SSRS?
