OK this may make some shake their heads... Sorry

I want to know ...

Looking at the manuals for my SS2-500 Hubs and my
SS2 3300s they have a CASCADE PORTs and Matrix Ports.

SS2 Hubs can be linked to Hubs...
SS2 Switches can be linked to Switches...

Is there anyway to link hubs to switches perhaps with
as special cable on the back panel not using an RJ45 on
the front of the unit. This way a hub switch combo might
be considered to be a single 48 port switch...

Sorry if It seems like I've spent to much time smoking something...

Some SS2 hubs have the ability to add internal transceivers, this would be your only option but it is still Ethernet or Fast Ethernet, there is no proprietary interface (with 3Com at least) to link Switches to Hubs.

They should all be in the dustbin anyway in my opinion, stick with switches....

Yes the hubs should be in the trash and so should all my Cat3 wiring. But we do what our employer is willing to pay for. I managed to get a bit of an improvement by moving the switches near the server and the hubs as far out as they would go. I'm planning to stone soup my employer one or two runs at a time and by replacing the hubs. When I started
it was a mixed bag of these older 3 Com and some real old
Sun Optics 2800s...
