Im hoping someone can help me with this. Im using v 8.5. Im trying to link zip code in two tables. In one table it is string 15 and in the other it is string 5. I want to look at the first five digits in the string 15 so that I can equal join it up to the 5 digits. Is this possible in Crystal?

Hi,
I would, if you can, create a view that does the join
using a substring function on the 15 char zip..Use the view in your report instead of the 2 tables..

You could do a similar thing using subreports, but my preference is to use views too because of speed.

In your sub report create a formule to get the first 5 chars.
Then from your main report, linke to 5 char zip code to the sub report formulae field you created
