Hi...this might be a silly question but I was wondering what is the best way to link files.

I'm linking pictures to a folder (i called images) and within that folder I have subcategorized folders. However, each time I move the file to a different computer it indicates that the images cannot be found so I have to relink everything when I first open up the file. I appreciate any suggestions. :)

Are you in the right forum? Are you referring to Illustrator, or Pagemaker?

Re: each time I move the file to a different computer...

Are you referring to an Illustrator file? How are you moving it from one computer to another? Zip disk/CD? Are these computers networked? Are you also transferring the graphics files? Or are they in a network folder?

Sorry for forgetting to close the italic tag.

Over-catagorising images in too many folders could be causing problems. If links are getting lost, you do need to tell Illustrator where to find them again. You could try embedding the images, that way you only need one (really big!) Illustrator file instead.
