I would like to know if there is a way to link orphan records back to their primary table. Cascading tables owners table one to many to wells table some 500 wells have no owner and i need to link them back to an owner in the owners table all 500 have same owner please advise!

Just insert a parent record in the primary table and they are no longer orphans. Presumably there is something more complex worrying you here?

ok when i insert the parent record it should give me an expandible list of sub records this is what isn't happening i can insert a parent field but how to link to the sub records in the next table??

"it should give me "

You need to say what 'it' is. Is it a form/subform arrangement?.

If you have added the parent record ie you have a record with the same key as the values in the foreign key fields of the former orphans, then if you now do a select, left joining the 'sub record' table to the primary table, you should see no orphans. If you have a form or something that isn't working properly then that should be a separate issue.
