I am trying to write a crystal report for a customer and they want to link the GLTRXFIL back to the APDISFIL to get the user name. I cannot figure out how to link these 2 tables.

I think I need to break the id_no in the APDISFIL into segments and get the information via a subreport, but I cannot figure out how. Has anyone done this before?

I have done this in the past. You have to follow the macola logic. You can't drill down from GLTRXFIL, but you can from the GLTRXHST. So link the GLTRXFIL to the GLTRXHST using acct_no's (main, pc, dept) date and time, then link GLTRXHST to the APDISFIL based on Acct_no and ID, may have to play with the linking a bit. Interesting thing about this process it will work with everything up to recurring journal entries, then you are stuck. The recurring entries have one time in the GLTRXFIL and a different time in the GLTRXHST (detail below). My client was tring to generate some report for sarbane oxley reporting.

(detail)
They have a report that links the GLTRXFIL to the GLTRXHST, and the GLTRXHST to the APDISFIL. Thier issue is for Recurring Journal Entries, the trx_tm in the history file doesn't equal the trx_tm in the GLTRXFIL. It equals the trx_id from the GLRECTRX. This causing a join issue, thus their modified trial balance will not balance.
